I Made an F!

Davin was playing with his "telescopes" (a paper towel tube, vacuum attachment, and tee-ball tee) today, looking all over the room, spying different letters. Then all of a sudden he shouts, "Look Mom, I made an F!" and sure enough, on the ground he had made an F with his telescopes! Yay Dav!

Sleeping in your arms

Tonight we came home from the basketball game and Davin was exhausted! He was just crying "Hold me! Hold me" and then pretty soon he was saying "PLEASE hold me!" all while I was trying to get his PJs on. I told him I would hold him for a few minutes as soon as he was dressed and then we would go to bed. He looked at me and said, "I don't want to go to sleep in my bed. I just want to go to sleep in your arms." How could I deny him that! There isn't much better than rocking a child to sleep. It sure is nice because there aren't many times that energetic 2 year old stops long enough to let me hold him, let alone ask me to! I treasured every moment of him asleep in my arms tonight!

Give me 5 mom!!

We were on our way to story time this morning when Davin shouted, "Mom, watch out!!" A little startled I asked what I was watching out for and he said, "All those cars!!" Just a reminder, we live in Star Valley, not even 1 stop light let alone, all those cars in the middle of the residential area! I slowed down and thanked him for helping me watch for cars. (We have been trying to remind him to watch for cars before we go into a parking lot or what not! That is my guess as to where this came from.) He then leaned forward in a pretty proud voice and said, "Good job mom! Give me 5 mom!"

Hitting the Slopes!!!

Today we had a FREE DAY!!! Imagine that! So, we decided we would take Davin skiing! We probably should have waited, he was tired and has a crazy cold but we were pushy parents and took him anyway. The day turned our surprisingly well. I asked my brother last night how to best approach it and he suggested taking it slow, letting Davin walk in the boots, put one ski on, then two, and finally just letting him slide on the snow for a few feet. Well, Davin would have none of this "SLOW" stuff! He took off great walking in the boots and loved them. Then, he would not do just one ski, he insisted on both and LOVED sliding from me to Nicc. He was so excited to watch the chair lift and could not wait any longer to ride it! He did great, we got on and off without any problems! He loved the chair lift!!! The first time down the hill he held on to my ski poles and I was dead by the bottom so the next time he skied "by himself" and I just held on to the handle on the back of the harness he was wearing! At one point he kept telling me "stop pulling me" and wanted me to let go so I let go and held the ropes out but we were not so succeessful there--he was kamikazi and flew down so fast he just lost control and I couldn't help him gain any more control! Only that crash though, pretty successful for a first timer! He did great and loved it! He never even crossed his skiis! By the end of the day we were all pooped! We are hoping we will have another chance to ski this winter so he can really get the hang of it!

Showing off his lift ticket!

Walking around in his boots!

Skiing with mom!

Skiing with Dad--this is the end of the day and he was tired and whiney! It was time to go home!

He was asleep before we were out of the parking lot! Skiing wore this little guy out!

All banged up!

Davin had a pretty exciting day at play group yesterday. We were playing in the gym at the church, usually pretty harmless. Well, Davin was sitting in the window sill when all of a sudden, the huge plastic board that protects the window (from flying basketballs, etc.) came falling down on top of him. This thing is about 8 feet tall and 4 feet wide. Poor guy was knocked right out of the window and flat onto his face on the floor. I don't even think he caught himself with his hands, he just landed on his face. I think more than anything he was just scared! He did bit his lip pretty good and shed a good amount of blood and has a nice rug burn on his chin! The craziest part was, I watched the entire thing but it seemed like it all went in slow motion. I could not get myself out of my seat, or at least not fast enough to get over to him to stop the plastic piece. I guess this isn't a first for Davin. The poor kid always has a bruise on his head. He reminds me of my brother Chris when he was growing up! Friday he jumped into a friends arms and pushed both of them into the stairs so had a bump next to his eye. Saturday he ran face first into a door--still not sure if he didn't see it or what! And now Monday, buried under a sheet of plastic. So far we have made it through most of Tuesday without an accident. I guess I shouldn't speak too soon!

Here are some pics of his "owies." It is kind of hard to see them. I enjoy the drama in his face as much as the actual bumps and bruises!

Pray and then Dance!

I have been meaning to post this since last Wednesday! I watch little Ava on Wednesdays and this last Wednesday she and Davin were especially funny! I came out to the kitchen and they were playing in the living room, Davin came running up to me and said, "Mom, we pray and dance!" Bewildered, I said OK and let them continue. Well, from the kitchen I heard Ava say, "Davin, it is your turn to pray." And sure enough a minute later Davin was praying, blessing Mommy, Daddy, me (him, a couple of times) and Ava. When he was done they hopped up and danced like crazy--to no music I might add. I was just dying in the kitchen trying not to let them hear me laugh. Well, then just a minute later Davin stopped and said "time to pray again." The two of them prayed and then danced for about 30 minutes! Davin never ceases to amaze us with his crazy ideas! Then, when I told Nicc about all of this, his response was, "Well, if he dances anything like his dad he better pray before he dances!" I haven't seen any more praying and dancing this week, but would sure enjoy the entertainment again!!
