Chuck-E-Cheese's House!

Last night Davin was building with blocks--he is really into building structures! He looked at me and said, "Mom, take a picture. It is Chuck-E-Cheese's house!" the funny thing is he doesn't usually want me to take a picture!

This is what I was talking about!

We have enjoyed every minute of the warm weather we have had the last 4 or 5 days! Monday we had play group at the park and we all got a little pink. We sat out there for 2 1/2 hours because nobody wanted to leave and miss out! We have been on several long walks, lots of bike rides, and have enjoyed the yard so much! When I put shorts on Davin he told me "Mom, these are too small!" (They were too short to be pants). Yesterday afternoon Davin was chillin' out side having a snack and I was so tickled by this picture!

Later he was playing and I about died when I realized he had a stocking cap on! I guess when I reminded him to grab a hat his instincts set in--8 out of 12 months here we do wear stocking caps!

A lady said the other day, "I think we appreciate Spring so much here because we have to wait so long for it!" Isn't that the truth! Although, we really do have some amazing spring weather, I really do appreciate it! I guess we will keep enjoying it while we can. I am sure there is a storm to come soon (I am not being pessimistic, just honest)!

Happy Birthday, to me!

My birthday was Saturday so we were planning on just hanging out with Davin, expecting the worst from him. Well, to our surprise, I received a great birthday present when he was feeling well! It was a gorgeous day so we got the bikes out of the shed and rode to the drive-in for an ice cream! What a yummy treat! After that we played outside with bubbles, trikes, and chalk! Later that afternoon we rode our bikes to the grocery store again! We loved riding our bikes! Nicc and Davin made cakes Saturday night but decorated them and then we enjoyed them Sunday because Davin could have a little cake then. They each decorated a cake--Davin insisted on making a pink one!Sunday we had a birthday party! Davin and Nicc sang to me a ton of times throughout the 2 days and I was so lucky to hear from all of my family and many friends! Davin was sure it was mine and Nicc's birthday for a long time and then it was his birthday too so we had to be sure to tell him "Happy Birthday!" as well! I had a SUPER birthday! Even though I feel like I am on the downhill slope to 30!

Feeling Better!

Just an update on Davin's tonsils! He had a very miserable first day! Not being able to have the codeine really hurt him. However, he seemed to snap out of it as soon as we found something to take care of his pain. He was sitting on my lap Friday night and we decided to give him the prescription the doctor gave us--it had a small amount of codeine in it so we had to keep him awake and watch his breathing for a while after he took it. About 30 minutes later he just sat up and said, "I feel good!" He hopped down, ran around the living room for a little while and then began begging for a fruit snack! No fruit snacks yet but he did agree to a cup of jell-o and a popsicle as well as a full sippy of juice! YEAH! He has been doing great ever since! In fact, he is wearing Nicc and I out just trying to keep him from jumping! When the doctor talked to us he said just to be sure he wasn't jumping off of dressers or what not. He obviously does not know my son! Jumping is his preferred mode of transportation and while he has not attempted the dresser yet I wouldn't put it past him! We are so glad he is happy and doing better though! I am amazed at how quickly he rebounded but grateful beyond words! Here are a few pics from Friday, the day of the surgery! We had a great time just laying around and we all got to take a nap!

Tonsillectomy--yucky stuff!

This morning I was wondering how I was going to survive! I sent my baby in for surgery--yes, just a minor surgery to remove his tonsils and adenoids, but it was still a surgery. I laid awake half the night thinking about things that could go wrong and was just a mess this morning. Davin was so good in pre-op! He just did not want to take off his spider man PJs to put on the gown! He finally agreed and then didn't even cry when they took him back. That was when the real worrying began and I didn't stop until the doctor came out!

All turned out well. The doctor was really great! Davin's tonsils were very large (just like his mommy's I guess) and he has a very deep palate and a spine that comes forward quite far so he has a very narrow airway anyway, thus any swelling of the tonsils or adenoids would surely cause him a great deal of problem. We found out that Davin is VERY sensitive to narcotics (so what this means is my son would be a very bad drug addict!). They put him under using a gas and then ran the IV which had some codeine dripping through it. Well, as soon as they added the codeine the anesthesiologist noted that Davin was having gaps in his breathing so stopped it right away. I am so grateful that he was attuned to Davin because the anesthesia was my biggest fear anyway! Because Davin could not take the codeine he was unable to get the shot that they usually give them to help when they wake up in so much pain. And he did wake up in pain! When we got back there he was screaming at the nurse to take out the IV (which was the size of his little arm)! We stayed in recovery for about an hour waiting for Davin to take in some liquids via IV or drink some juice. Finally Davin, after kicking and screaming, agreed and took a drink of juice and as soon as he finished stuck his arm out at the nurse for her to take out his IV and said "OK, I did it!" We came home and he has just laid around the rest of the day, sleeping on and off, but still in a lot of pain. It seems like even the prescription pain killer isn't doing much.

We are enjoying just laying around, and it was sure nice to have an extra lazy day with Daddy. I am so grateful that everything went well and for all the prayers that were offered in Davin's behalf! I truly hope that this is something I do not have to go through again any time soon--or ever! I can think of nothing else that I have disliked about motherhood as much as this!

Cookies!

Davin and I actually had some down time today so we made, cut, baked, and decorated sugar cookies! Davin helped all along the way! He loves to dump the ingredients into the bowl and always asks for more when we are done! This is totally not something we do very often so it is a "special thing" like Davin mentioned!

I know we live in Wyoming but I about died when I woke up this morning and saw this:

I thought for sure I was right smack dab in the middle of January! It is beautiful but I am ready for a different kind of beauty!

This is what Davin was doing just a week or so ago when we had our nice spring weather! We were amazed at what a difference a year makes (maybe it is because his legs are finally long enough to reach the pedals)! He was doing so well on his bike and was loving it! We are so lucky to have this big deck to play on while there is still snow all over the yards.

Easter Weekend!

We had an great Easter weekend! Nicc's brother just recently adopted two gorgeous little girls and they were sealed on Saturday! We felt so lucky to be there with them!

Davin loved playing with his cousins again for a second weekend in a row! Please ignore my niece's immodesty!

Looking for eggs!

Davin got his letter game for the fridge! He loves it and has played with his cousins' the last few times we were there. Did the Easter Bunny know what he wanted or what?

Coloring Easter Eggs!

Thursday night we were so excited to dye Easter eggs! Earlier I had told Davin we would COLOR Easter eggs and he went running for his crayons. From that point on he could not wait to "color" his Easter eggs, although I think he was so confused about what he would really be doing. He had a great time helping me get the dye ready! He loved putting the eggs in the dye, although his just plopped in! Nicc and I were shocked that none of them cracked! Davin had great time and was so bummed when the eggs were all colored!

I'm a Princess!

Today I was going through my closet and I had tried on a skirt when Davin came in. He looked at me for a minute and asked, "Mommy, are you a princess?" I said back, "Do I look like a princess." He without doubt said, "Yes you do!" and went back to his room to continue playing! I just sat there for a minute thinking about what he said. I am so glad to know that no matter how I feel Davin thinks I am a princess! I sure do love that little guy!

No, we have not fallen off the edge of the Earth, we have just been out of commission with some computer viruses!! Should be better now, or so we hope!

We spent last week at Nicc's brother's in Salt Lake, hoping to enjoy at least some green grass, flowers, and warmer weather (not hot, just something warmer). However, I think the snow and dreary weather followed us down there!
Nicc spent Thursday, Friday, and Saturday living every BYU fan's biggest dream (he still is a WYO boy though) in the football program, with coaches and all in Provo! He enjoyed it! We met him in Salt Lake Saturday and spent the next week with family, relaxing and just doing some fun things!

Sunday we hung around the house and Nicc made patacones (fried plantain)! A treat we all love but rarely have. Looked like all of the other kids love them too!

Monday we took the little kids swimming, Davin, his new cousin Breanna, and Zach (lucky boy got out of school early even to come with us)! Davin loves the water! He had zero fear which caused a little fear for us! When we got back to SV he asked to go swimming as we passed the outdoor pool still full of snow and asked when we can go. I had no answer for him. Monday night we went to CHUCK E. CHEESE'S! Davin saw a commercial on TV months ago and has been asking to go play games and ride the car since then. This was probably our biggest motivator for going to Salt Lake. Chuck E. Cheese's is about as big as Disneyland to a two year old! He loved every minute of it! Nicc and I had a pretty good time as well getting to do a few games!

Finally, the REAL, Chuck E. Cheese!Davin loved this game. The point was to catch the "popcorn" in the bucket!

Tuesday we took the TRAX downtown to temple square! We told Davin we were riding a train like Thomas and he thought we were actually going to ride Thomas so when the train showed up and was white he was a little concerned because "Thomas is blue!" Nicc saved the day and told him that Thomas is in the back of the train so we just couldn't see him! We had a good time walking around temple square. Davin loved the large statue of the Savior in the visitors center and some of the scripture stories that were told in the visitor's center. We also saw a video about Joseph Smith and were shocked to see the part where Nicc's great(how many ?)-grandfather was included in the story! It started to rain and drizzle so we headed home with a very tired little guy!


Wednesday we again took the TRAX downtown, Davin was loving the train by now! We went to the Discovery Gateway, an interactive children's museum! It was awesome!! There was so much to see and do. Davin loved it, was a little overwhelmed at first because there were lots of school kids there but once he got things figured out he just dove in! Nicc even had a good time playing with the blocks as well--he even waited in line!



Thursday we just took it easy and hung around the house, letting Davin play with his cousins. Davin and Breanna decided they would feed the guinea pigs. Their idea of doing this was to take the cage apart and lots of the wood chips out. We still aren't sure what exactly they were feeding them because the food was nowhere to be found! Thursday night Todd, Kim, Nicc and I enjoyed a very fancy dinner downtown at Market Street Grill! It was kind of a fun experience, one we normally wouldn't have taken. We are definitely Wyoming folk and kind of stand out in such a formal restaurant! Most evening this week we enjoyed some time on the Wii! We had a lot of fun with couples tennis and I thoroughly enjoyed beating the boys in bowling three games in a row. They must have been intimidated because they stayed up until 2 perfecting their games!

Friday we took our time getting up and Davin played with the Pollock kids for a few minutes as they stopped on their way to California! Then we headed home--stopped in Park City to find some good deals first! We came home to a little more snow. We are glad to be home but sure had a great time!
