Wow, I can't believe the difference a year has made in our little guy's ability to ski! Looking back, we made a lot of mistakes last year (skiing with ear infections, trying to take him ourselves...) but we are sure glad he is finally getting the hang of it! Last weekend we met my parents in Jackson to ski Saturday. Davin kept saying he didn't want to ski with a teacher, just with Grandma and Grandpa Sheckler--hey he saved us the money and they were thrilled to do it! He warmed up right away (after sitting down the first run because he was pouting). He skied his first run with Grandma--she had a hold of his harness but he was doing most of it on his own. The second run she just had one finger on his harness and the third run he was skiing on his own, with the straps of the harness let out but only so we could keep him from kamikazing it down the hill!! He did so good and had so much fun. He listened 100 times better to Grandpa's advice than he ever would have listened to us. By the second run he was asking when he could do tricks (maybe we watched a little too much ski jumping during the olympics). We all had a great time and it was nice being able to alternate between the boys. I think all 4 of us adults took a turn each with Davin on the hill and then hanging out with Kyson at the bottom--who was just as content as could be in the snugli, doing some people watching, and napping occasionally! Both boys were really good, we couldn't have asked for a better day!
