First Stop: Rock Springs

Our first stop on our 10 day reunion tour was Rock Springs for my 10 year high school class reunion. First of all I am totally not old enough to have been out of school for 10 years! The reunion was totally not all I had anticipated. Out of a class of 400 only about 40 of us showed up and a lot of the people I hoped to see were not there. I did enjoy visiting with the few people that were there though.

While we were in RS we went out on the boat Friday morning with Chris and my mom! We had a ton of fun tubing, skiing, and just swimming around (I enjoyed watching and thinking about being able to do it all next summer)! Nicc and Davin tried tubing but the nose of the tube went under and that was the last of it for Davin! He enjoyed telling everyone else what they should do from there on out!


Nicc enjoyed a ton of tubing and we enjoyed watching my brother whip him around like crazy trying to dump him off--he was quite successful a couple of times! Nicc also skied and did so good! It took him a minute to stand straight up but he got up on his first try! We were so excited for him!

Saturday we went to the parade before our afternoon at the class reunion! Davin was the only kid for a good chunk of the block so got a TON of candy! Nicc was coaching him on how to get the candy (wave so they throw it, run fast as soon as they throw it, and look around to make sure you got it all). He did really good but about 3/4 of the way through the very LONG parade Davin was ready to just sit down! He also decided the he absolutely did not like being squirted and would hide behind us at the sight of a fire truck or anyone with a water gun!

Sunday we headed up to Lovell for Nicc's Family reunion. On the way we stopped in the WindRiver Canyon to feed the fish! Pretty fun considering we never really have time to do so. Davin was interested in the fish for about 10 minutes but then he realized there was a waterfall and lots of sticks laying around!!!

Work, work, work!

We have some of the hardest working neighbor kids! They gave up an afternoon to help us rip siding off the house and then thanked us for letting them help!! We were so grateful for their help!

why do I need a bed?

This is where I find Davin 6 out of 7 nights of the week. We keep asking him if he wants a big boy bed and he says no. I guess he would rather just have a pile of blankets for the floor!

Davin says...

Davin has been full of funny comments this last little while. Here are just a few of them.

* He was supposed to be picking up toys and was being a turkey. I told him I was too tired to fight with him to pick them up. He mumbled under his breath, "And crabby."

* We were picking up tools outside at the end of the day and I told Davin he needed to help pick up the ones he was playing with and he started singing "Pick up, pick up, little weasels everywhere." (just for the record, Nicc and Davin call each other little weasels).

* I was sitting at the table with Davin the other night eating dinner and out of the clear blue he said, "Sometimes I pick my nose." Just as if it were a matter of fact!

* The mosquitos have been all over Davin this summer and I told him they must like to eat him up and he said, angrily, "No, I'm just not tasty."

* He and Nicc were getting some things done and Davin rattled off a list of things that he thought should be done and the order he liked and looks at Nicc and asks, "Is that a good deal Dad?"

* At the softball games the other night Davin was playing with a little girl and wanted so badly to cover her up with his coat when it started to get chilly. She didn't really want to let him and Davin looked at her and said, "I'm a good guy."

* I was eating some crackers and Davin hollers "Stop, Mom! You can't eat that." When I ask why he says, "The baby is in your belly, there is no room for food."

Last night we decided to take a break from working on the house and take Davin to a movie at the theatre! We had not taken him before and we were all pretty excited. We went and saw Ice Age 3! Davin was super excited to get popcorn and was wide eyed most of the movie! Just as it started Sid the sloth came on screen and in a theatre of quiet people Davin shouts (and I mean shouts) "It's Sid!!!!" We didn't even know he had seen any of the others to know who Sid was--he must have watched them with grandma before! He was pretty fun and the people around us got lots of giggles from his commentary throughout the show. About 3/4 the way through he was ready to go so it took some bribing to get him to stay which he ended up doing and was happy about it. At home when he watches a movie he walks all over, maybe a little hard to sit still that long. After the movie he kind of skipped out and was saying "That was a good movie! That was a good movie!" We all had a fun time!

Mud Puddle Feet!

This morning we were working outside and Nicc was washing the fertilizer spreader off in the driveway and it made a nice mud puddle that attracted a fun little guy! I asked him not to play in it because there was fertilizer in the mud puddle so Daddy came to save the day and make a NEW mud puddle just for Davin! He loved it! The fact that he wanted to go barefoot was a sure sign that he was in love because this boy absolutely hates to walk on the gravel!

When he was ready to wash off his feet Nicc took him over to the creek and warned him that it would be cold. Davin just kept saying, "I love it cold!" but refused to put his feet in for longer that 2 seconds! In his defense, the water really is cold, maybe 33 degres!

4th of July!

Yeah, it has been a while but Davin was with my parents again while I spent the week at Girl's Camp and Nicc worked like crazy to rip out some old sheetrock, replace it, tape, texture, prime, and paint! Yeah, I am pretty sure I got the better end of that deal! We picked Davin up in Jackson on the 3rd and spent the rest of the day watching Scotty play baseball!

We kind of like to hang around here for the 4th! Davin woke up first thing and reminded us that we told him we would go get fireworks. After stalling him until the stores open Nicc took him to get some fireworks, pretty simple--fire crackers, bottle rockets, and snap and pops, but boy, that little boy was in heaven! I am sure there is not a boy under the sun that is not simply amazed with fireworks! We spent some time that morning doing snap-and-pops.

Then we decided to take the 4-wheeler up the canyon for a picnic--apparantly we were not the only ones! We still had a good time and Davin loves the fact that he can throw rocks in the creek up there.




We got back down just in time to head to the parade--pretty good for a non-election year! Davin was all about the oohs and aahs and was so good to put his hand on his heart when the flag went by! He loved the horses and by the time everything came back up our side of the street he was really catching on to the whole candy bit--he was even a good sharer with those around him! I was so touched after the parade when a service man was standing just a few people down from us and kids from all over, without parent urging, were running over and offering this man a piece of candy. Quite a simple act in their minds I am sure but it brought tears to my eyes and reallyhelped me to remember how much we should be grateful for their service.



After the parade we all crashed and got a good nap in before the Ranch rodeo and fireworks. We even had a little bit of time to sneak in some more fireworks--bottle rockets this time! Davin was VERY impressed!

We enjoy going to the ranch rodeo because it is a little more laid back that a PRCA rodeo. Davin was pumped to wear his cowboy boots. He was really into the rodeo, and actually watched a good chunk of it until he came up to us and said he needed lunch. We reminded him that we had in fact eaten lunch AND dinner so he shouldn't be hungry. He then said, "There is a lunch station downstairs!" Yep, a lunch station! When Nicc asked him what the lunch station had he replied, "Uh, French Fries, do you think we need some?" After that we buckled and bought the boy some french fries!After the rodeo the city does some fireworks. It was nice! Just as they started the fireworks it started to drizzle and Davin, who hates the rain, kept telling us he loves the sprinkles on his head. I think he was afraid we would make him go inside. We got a kick out of the fireworks and those sitting around us probably got the best commentary ever by a 2 year old: "Wow, that one is green AND red." "Did you see those sparkly ones?" "Those are my favorites!" "Ah mom, you missed that one. (I really didn't) and of course, LOTS of OOHs, and AAHs! About halfway through a pretty good lightning storm started up off the the west, a perfect backdrop to the fireworks! I was simply amazed and kept thinking of them as Heavenly Father's fireworks! How lucky we truly are to live in a free land! The fireworks ended just as it really started to rain! We ran, not to our car, but the 4-wheeler we drove over there. Thank goodness for us the fairgrounds are only 4 blocks from home, but still we were pretty wet by the time we got there! All in all we had a pretty darn good 4th of July!!!
