LEAVES!!!

Even though we grumble about all of our leaves, they really make for some great fun!!!

"Cheese"ball!!!

Davin loves cheese! He especially loves shredded cheese, of course it has to be the messiest! Well, tonight after dinner, we were all cleaned up aside from the bag of cheese still on the table. Nicc and I were in the kitchen and came back to the table just as Davin had the brand new bag upside down and dumped all the cheese out! We just started laughing and he got embarrassed for a moment then went right to work on his big pile of cheese! YUMMY!!

End of one season, on to the next!

All day yesterday and all morning Davin has been asking about going to Daddy's football game. We have been trying to tell him that football is over. He just won't have it! I guess he really isn't the only one that will miss it!

Nicc just finished coaching his first year at the High School and we instantly became HUGE Braves fans! Coaching is quite a job, way more than I expected. I know Nicc LOVED it and I know that Davin and I loved going to his games. As much as we all had to sacrifice to make it work (and even though I did grumble throughout the season) I think it was well worth it! I too will miss going to Nicc's football games.
The Braves ended their season on a good note, bot h JV and Varsity. Nicc coached a GREAT JV game last Thursday! Davin and I went to the first 3 quartes and then left due to cold weather at the beginning of the 4th quarter when the score was 26-20 and we were losing. When Nicc came home he had a sly smile on his face and said he won! They ended up winning 42-26! I was so excited for him but bummed we missed it. Everyone we heard or overheard said what a wonderful game he called and it just made me so proud of him. So, I guess we will move from one sport season to the next and head indoors this time while Nicc coaches the Girls sophomore basketball team! Go Braves!

Are they done FALLING yet?

So, for those of you that have ever wanted a tree filled yard, or envied those that did have one, you are more than welcome to come spend some time taking care of our tree filled yard! The trees are nice for about 2 months in the summer, aside from that they are a LOT of work! We probably have 20 cottonwood trees and you guessed it, they are not cottonLESS, I would say cottonMORE is more like it. In the spring we enjoy TONS of cotton and in the fall TONS of leaves. This time of year the beautiful colors that surround us are only so beautiful until I realize that those beautiful leaves will soon be covering our yard! It is a never ending job and I am tired already! We took these pics the other day just before we cleaned them ALL up. There wasn't a single leaf left. Well, about 20 minutes after we finished you would have never known that we even touched our yard.

This is our "Yellow Brick Road" as we like to call it!

We still have this many leaves to come!

Not a quiet voice!

Well, we had a slight mishap at Story Time this morning. We have talked all week, and especially ALL morning about how we use a quiet vocie and slow feet in the library (as if my son knows anything but fast and super fast). I told him if he didn't use a quiet voice and slow feet we would leave. Sure enough, halfway through the librarian's second book he is not using a quiet voice, I gave him one warning and then we had to leave. I think I hated it more than he did. We got to the car and I told him we left because he didn't have a quiet voice and he looked at me with the most serious face I think he has ever had and said, "Mommy, not a quiet voice." Backfire!!!! It took EVERY ounce of control I had not to laugh. I know I wasn't yelling by any means but he was sure to let me know that I didn't have a quiet voice either! Maybe before he is 18 I will get some of this parenting stuff figured out.

Happy Day to you, to me!

Davin is 2! I almost can't even believe it, or maybe I don't want to. Nicc pointed out last night that he is half my height (I'm sure it won't be long until he is my height)! We have been having a week long celebration! We celebrated with Grandma and Grandpa Crosby Saturday, us Monday, me and Davin alone yesterday, and a party with his friends today, and we will celebrate again this weekend with Grandma and Grandpa Sheckler! He is going to think his birthday is a week long! He keeps singing "Happy Day to you, to me!"

This is his new "Basket Hoop!"

For those of you that know me should know that things like making this cake are completely put me completely out of my element! I had a friend loan me a book with some of the cutest cake ideas in it. I decided since he was getting a hoop he should also have a "basket hoop" cake!

This is his ELMO birthday party and cake! Again, I decided to try my hand at a fun cake. I am starting to enjoy cake making/decorating! I am just starting small!
We had a very successful birthday party considering there were 11 kids under 4 years old! All of the kids wanted to open the presents that they brought for Davin and most of them did. He was excited none the less, but I don't think he realizes what was going on. He had fun but crashed hard after partying so hard!

Almost 2!

So, Davin will be 2 in a little over a week so I thought I would try to snap a few "good" pics while he was in the mood! These are my favorites!
I thought about trying to capture the beautiful colors around us this time of year but I couldn't resist his eyes!

My model son, I didn't even have to ask him to pose here!

or here!

This is one of his very favorite things in the world to do! He is throwing rocks into the creek. He was so excited when we walked by the creek at the park because he knows at home we can only throw sticks in (I want to keep my gravel driveway!). He told me as soon as he saw it, "Throw rocks mom. Only sticks at my house!"
